COMMUNITY AWARENESS
Part of the Community Involvement program will involve various locations within the community (i.e. Library, Fire Hall, Police Department, Municipal Office, Post Office, YMCA).
RECREATION
Recreation is encouraged through weekly bowling outings, swimming at the YMCA, and various outings as planned. We go on outings that include sailing, horseback riding, movies and bus trips.
EDUCATION
The education component has a focus to maintain acquired skills. Each day has an assigned activity. There are group discussions, activity sheets, computer work, and hands on games that participants are able to enjoy and learn from. Fine and gross motor skills are maintained through crafting and community activities during the week.
LIFE SKILLS
Cooking and nutrition is a favoured life skill of all. We have designated days set aside for the group to shop for ingredients, and cook the meal. The nutritional component teaches proper eating habits and focuses on well balanced meals. Other life skills taught are household chores, community safety, fire prevention, and safety and community awareness.
